Artist Statement
The intensity of life it’s self, the speed, tensions and moods are the foundations of my art. My paintings usually start with a line or a simple shape that evolves into a complex composition. Viewers’ observation turns into the main subject. To me, art is the combination of often diverse conception in to a complete harmony. Skill and creativity is my primary goals. My goal as a creator is to enrich life thru paintings. My primary focus is on the beauty created by individualities, where viewers wonder and discover something new every day. I react intuitively to an unknown influence which makes my paintings unique and distinct from others. The nonrepresentational art contributes to free the human soul from materialistic contemplation and brings consistent pleasure through the entire aesthetic experience. What I pursue the most in my art is what I still not know what to be, therefore I feel that the freshness of ideas will always exist.
Artist Bio
Every generation begets artists that are irresistibly compelled to redefine all the set boundaries that define our culture. Such is the fate of Fernando Linhares.
Fernando Linhares was born on April 1, 1963 in a picturesque region of the Central Brazil. Since early childhood he was regarded as a “talented artist” by family and friends, all of whom constantly tried to buy little Fernando’s sketches.
Attending his call in life, Fernando left his peaceful corner of the world and traveled extensively throughout Europe, visiting and for long periods of time in countries such as Italy and France. During his quest for enlightenment, he learned how to express himself in many languages. He studied European culture, and sought inspiration from European masters. He completed his first collection of oil paintings in Paris.
Shortly after settling in the United States, Fernando started experimenting with variety of mixed media. Initially, his painting evoked improbable landscapes; later, Fernando took this technique to a whole new level. He developed a new type of decorative figurative painting, that skillfully utilizes the mixed media technique to create complex texture, brilliant layers of colors and elegant lines.
Parallel to his creativity, Fernando has painted in oil and acrylic, but the subject of those paintings was quite different. His oils and acrylics were abstract compositions that gave life to pure geometric shapes and made then curiously interactive.
With time, Fernando used his unique mastery to create sophisticated abstract paintings. Fernando is now an artist who has explored many of the facets and capabilities of his technique. That demonstrates an eccentric level of creativity.
